Josef Lorenz

Hello there.

I am a seasoned bassist and musician currently residing in Syracuse, NY. Since 2003 I have actively participated as a professional musician, showcasing my talents across the Northeastern US in diverse musical settings, including rock bands, theatrical productions, ensembles, and orchestras.

My musical journey commenced at the age of 8 with piano, followed by a transition to double bass two years later. Over the years, I have consistently engaged in music, expanding my skill set to include self-taught proficiencies in: electric bass, guitar, violin, cello, and drums.

In 2003, I achieved a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music Performance from Ithaca College. Subsequently, I resided in Rochester, NY, and later in Boston, MA, before establishing Syracuse as my home in 2007. In 2014, my album, So Far Upstate, garnered recognition with a Syracuse Area Music Award ("SAMMY") nomination for Best Pop Album.

My involvement extends beyond the realm of music to include culinary exploration. For several years, I curated a local food blog called Pulled Into Syracuse focusing on the city's vibrant dining scene. During this period, I collaborated with Food Network and served as a restaurant columnist for Eagle Newspapers.
